Sea Defences

Based in the Chichester area, we are lucky enough to live in close proximity to the harbour estuary which is a haven for local wildlife and provides moorings for fishing and leisure boats. The area has supported the local community for decades and great care is taken by the authorities to retain its natural beauty.

A number of our local projects have been on the waterfront and we have been involved in the design and construction of new sea defences. Working under the guidance of the Chichester harbour conservancy, English heritage, Natural England and the local planning office we have constructed rock boulder defences otherwise known as rip rap. The stone structure very effectively defuses the impact of the waves outlasting concrete and timber structures. This natural solution offers a far more pleasing appearance to the shoreline while creating habitat for the harbour wildlife.
